This is so lovely: In search of a place to breathe. / We cross galaxies, / voids, / entire millennia. / We search for oxygen. / Instead, / we find dreams.
Such a weight to carry, but you carry it in such a beautiful way.
A lot of people don't truly understand what it means to leave your home country and go searching for life elsewhere. A lot of people don't understand it wasn't always by choice. That it isn't easy.
My family has lived in Alberta for at least 3 generations, so this is a good reminder of what it means for those who have not.
Immigrants are the backbone of both the US and Canada and really many other parts of the world..
Thank U lovely truth creator touched me with honesty and I am eager to share this with my fellow truth lovers Beauty is only alive and well when we recognize who we are thank U 🙏
You are welcome, I really felt every word. I’m a strong proponent of human migration being normalised, and people understanding that we are all human, and brown is beautiful 🖤🖤🖤
Thank you for bringing peace, love and beauty with you to share with the people of your new home. It's a pleasure to have newcomers such as yourself! May you find a better home here! :)
It's the first time I come across brownness directly addressed, and I read a lot here. I wish to see more brown writing in this space ❤️
Loved the contrast between the serious tone of the poem and the melody of the song indicating perennial movement, dance, uplifting beats, lightness. Resonates with the souls of migrants who never stop smiling despite all the hardships.
Yo no soy de aquí, pero tú tampoco. I am not from here, but neither are you.
A great reminder for those who have no clue what's going on and fail to notice the complexity of migration.
Thank you so much for your beautiful story! I work in immigrants rights advocacy and I am sobbing uncontrollably in the most absolutely necessary way- you put words where I didn’t even know words could fill in muchas gracias por tu talento literario 🥹😭👏
Yes! Brilliant. I love this one. People forget this was all of us at one point. It's easier that way.
Thank you 💜🥹

The immigrant became something unfinished, stitched together by necessity.” That line stayed with me. Powerful piece.

Thank you 💜🥹 I really appreciate your thoughtful comment.
The song actually directly addresses the complexity of migration and migrant communities.
My ancestors are both European and South American.
I am white but also brown. I was forced to leave my country to survive and in the process you end up both losing yourself and finding yourself.
Migrating implies a complex transformation that headlines completely dehumanize.
In summary, thank you. This is what I wanted to highlight. The inner process and what remains unseen.
And brown is beautiful.
Thank you 🙏🏻💜
